Melissa is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta. She is an Indigenous (Métis) scholar, with a background in program evaluation, children’s mental health, and working with Indigenous children and families from a strength-based, systems perspective. Her research interests are primarily focused on exploring the development, resilience, and mental health of Indigenous children, youth, and families, as well as the use of arts-based methods with diverse populations. Melissa’s research interests reflect that she is passionate about co-creating knowledge that has the potential for social change.
