Aaliyah Jafarian-Oshtbin is an Indigenous (Anishinaabe)/Iranian woman with an undergraduate degree in anthropology. After a particularly impactful introductory evaluation course taught by Dr. Gokiert, Aaliyah's passion for evaluation work was ignited. Now in the second year of her Master of Public Health program, Aaliyah is working as the ECN's Indigenous Community Liaison. In the near future, Aaliyah plans to open up her own consultancy business centered on Indigenous evaluation.

The Evaluation Capacity Network is housed at the University of Alberta, primarily located on the territory of the Néhiyaw (Cree), Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, Nakoda (Stoney), Dene, Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) and Anishinaabe (Ojibway/Saulteaux), lands that are now known as part of Treaties 6, 7 and 8 and homeland of the Métis. The University of Alberta respects the sovereignty, lands, histories, languages, knowledge systems and cultures of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit nations.
